TAK NAK X To Counterfeit Drugs (Part 2)

If you guys follow my previous column :P, you may read on the stories I have encountered during my practice as a hospital pharmacist.

After that, I moved on to become a pharmacy enforcement officer8-). When I was an enforcement officer 👔, the nature of the job gives me the privilege to involve directly in the activity of anti-counterfeit, be it unregistered products or adulterated products.

I still remember clearly in my memory, that this case happened to a middle age man at his forties who brought his medicine over to our office to launch complaint. First, the man showed us a few boxes of medicine💊💊💊 that he bought over from some chinese medical hall and community pharmacies. These are his medication for his diabetes and hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) and he has been taking these medications 💊💊💊 for quite some years.

At the first glance, these medicines looked very normal and seemed just like any other normal medicines that we can get from any pharmacies or clinics. The man insisted us to double check on the hologram attached and insisted that these medicines were fake medicines and he mentioned that he felt that these medicines were not as effective as the previous one that he took. At first, we were a little suspicious😒 to this man and felt that this man was just merely asking for troubles as we seldom see fake products with a hologram attached. However, we still take the products and examine the hologram attached on the products with the Hologram Meditag.

To our shocking😱😱😱, the holograms attached on the products were fake hologram. Of course, as enforcement officer, we called for an operation to raid these products after that.

After the raiding operation, we sent the products for testing and we found that these products either contained no active ingredient or contained wrong amount of active ingredient. We were sad. As one of the member of healthcare professionals, we, as pharmacists will definitely say ❌TAK NAK❌ to counterfeit drugs!! How about you?
